Michael Feichtenbeiner Appointed As New Head Coach

Selangor FC is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Feichtenbeiner as our first team Head Coach for 2022, while also resuming his role as Sporting Director of the club.

Dato' Seri Shahril Mokhtar, Chairman Technical Committee of Selangor FC said:

“We have seen the capability that Michael has shown during his spell as caretaker end of last season. Introducing a blend of young players and senior players, and playing high pressing quick transition football is in the best interest of Selangor FC. This is aligned with our vision to build a strong team for future. We are more confident than ever that, under his leadership, we are heading in the right direction."

Michael started his coaching spell as youth coach of VfB Stuttgart before joining Swiss club BSC Old Boys Basel as head coach. The majority of his coaching stint has largely been in Germany, as he was born in Stuttgart, West Germany.

Michael notably made waves in the DFB Cup in 2019-2020 with Bundesliga 2 (Germany’s second division football league) club, Stuttgarter Kickers, by defeating three Bundesliga clubs (Borrusia Dortmund, Arminia Bielefeld and SC Freiburg) en route to the semi-finals where they were finally eliminated by Werder Bremen after extra time.

The German has also previously coached in Malaysia for MPPJ FC (now dissolved) in 2005-2006, saving them from being relegated to Malaysia Premier League. Michael returned to Germany, as he was reappointed as head coach of SC Pfullendorf in 2006, despite leading the standings of Malaysia Super League with MPPJ FC in early August 2006.

In addition, Michael had also coached in Indonesia with Bintang Medan FC in 2010-2011, followed by working for the German Federation (DFB) from 2015 till 2019 as head coach of the U-15 up till U-17 of the National Team. He mainly worked following and growing with the age group of the players born in 2002.

In December 2019, Michael returned to Malaysian shores with Selangor FC as Sporting Director and is also responsible to coach our reserve team - Selangor FC 2.

The club would like to wish Michael Feichtenbeiner all the best in his new role as Selangor FC’s new head coach and we hope he is able to elevate the first team to greater heights by delivering us success on the field.

Demi Kebanggaan!
